These "poets in exile" seek to express universal truths in their poetry, and with this first collection of poems they have succeeded. They have opened their hearts and souls to express their innermost feelings about love, family and saudade. These are just three of the themes in these poems, but they help to define these poets as Brazilians, a people with a long poetic tradition whose families are the center of their lives.
